The newly formed Rush featured numerous young players that later went on to become the future stars of the league. After making it to the finals a couple of times, Chicago Rush was finally able to claim its very first AFL championship title in 2006. During that season, the team posted its very first losing season with the finishing record of 7-9. Even after a score like that, the team made it to the playoffs. Rush started its season with the score of 0-2, but later it picked up some victories after a couple of additions to its active roster. With just the last two games remaining of that season, the team was with a score of 5-9 and after winning the last two games, it earned a playoff spot. During the playoffs, the team pulled off a great victory over Nashville Kats and later in the Divisional round it caused a huge upset by defeating Colorado Crush, who were the defending champions of that season.

The team made it very first Arena Bowl appearance after defeating San Jose Saber Cats in the Conference Championship round. In the finals of Arena Bowl XX the team went up against Orlando Predators and with the score of 69-61 the team claimed its very first Arena Bowl Championship. After doing so, Chicago Rush became the very first team in the league since 1938 to post a losing record and still win the championship.

The following season, the team once again made its mark by winning yet another American Conference Central Division championship by defeating Los Angeles Avengers in the Division Finals. Next year in 2009, the laid off for a season and suspended its operations for restructuring and returned in 2010. In 2010, the team made its comeback with a couple of new additions to the roster as well as an entirely new ownership. The year 2011 marked the Tenth Anniversary of the team which also marked the start of Bob McMillen's tenure as the new head coach in place of Mike Hohensee. That season the team ceased the most amounts of wins in the franchise's history by finishing its regular season with 13-5 record.
