Adam’s Young’s digital music project is known as Owl City. An alternative dance project it was founded in 2007. Young, a multi-talented musician was suffering from insomnia which later served as the reason for him to develop music in his basement. From music to the entire world, it was not an easy journey for him. His first single track was debuted on MySpace in 2007 which got an applauding response. Right after the song got popular and later extremely successful; he decided to record a seven track album “Of June” which was a mini indie pop album. Even though this album was not marketed or promoted extensively, it still managed to attain a 20th position on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart.
"Maybe I'm Dreaming" was his next indie project released in 2008 which was a result of his confidence that it will be just as successful. There he was at Top 20 of Billboard Electronic Albums chart again. His entire music was inspired by the electronic music compositions of “Imogen Heap”, “Relient K”, “Boards of Canada” and “Armin van Buuren”.
With this dual success, Owl City was now on center stage and this success further led to his collaboration with “Universal Republic” in 2009. This resulted in the release of his one of the best album "Ocean Eyes" in the same year. This album included a bonus track "Hello Seattle" which was a remix of his previous album’s track. This album climbed to No.8 on Billboard Hot 200 right three months after it started to sell.
2009's “Ocean Eyes” had four singles, titled ‘Hello Seattle', 'Strawberry Avalanche', 'Fireflies' and 'Hot Air Balloon'. 'Fireflies' is so far the best track and highly popular among American and Canadian charts. However, later it was seen topping the UK charts as well. Owl City comprises of “Breanne Duren” who is a vocalist and plays the keyboard; “Laura Musten” who plays the violin; “Hannah Schroder” who plays the cello and “Matthew Decker” who plays the drums.
Owl City has recently been on tours with “Brooke Waggoner and The Scene Aesthetic”. Also he was the opening act for the concert of “John Mayer”. Nominated for the BBC Sound of 2010, he was defeated by “Ellie Goulding”, “Delphic”, “Joy Orbison” and “Marina and the Diamonds”. His main aspiration for creating and developing music comes from the young lists “Boards of Canada” and “Imogen Heap”.
Other projects being led by Adam Young include “Port Blue”, “Seagull Orchestra”, “Insect Airport” and “Windsor Airlift”, though none of the projects retain the popularity of Owl City. He sang a duet with “Relient K's Matt Thiessen”, titled “Fireflies” and this turned out to be the best lead single. This was spotted at No. 97 on Billboard Hot 100 and eventually became a super hit of the U.S. Singles chart.
This career line grew longer with time. He got hired as a lead musician for the original soundtrack score of the television series "90210" which starred “Shenae Grimes”, “Tristan Wilds” and “Ryan Eggold”. 'Sunburn' was the track that was included on the Soundtrack of 90210. The soundtrack also included melodious tracks from artists such as “OK Go”, “Adele and The Raconteurs” and “N*E*R*D”.
Through live performances and tours, Owl City has built on its fan following which is increasing by the day. His stardom has now crossed borders and he is an internationally acclaimed musician. Young opened Owl City University in September, 2010, as an interactive site for his fans. This site was integrated with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Through this boundaries were removed and fans easily communicated from any part of the world. Later Adam Young was seen messaging and communicating on video blog.
