Carole King, originally known as Carol Klein, was born in Brooklyn, New York and is a singer-songwriter. She started playing out the piano at first and then progressed to singing. While attending the James Madison High School, King formed a vocal group of four, entitled 'Co-Sines'. She enrolled in Queens College, where the pop singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka was her classmate. Inspired by King, Sedaka made the song 'Oh Carol' that turned out to be his first big hit. In response to this, King wrote the song 'Oh Neil'. The two then got married, and King gave birth to two daughters, who grew up to become musicians. However, Goffin and King got divorced in 1968.
