Festival of Contemporary Music Tickets

The much awaited contemporary music gathering is just around the corner and it is called Festival of Contemporary Music. This festival is an array of music events that will be taking place over a period of a few weeks. Every year thousands of music lovers come to enjoy this festival. This year the lineup includes some of the best symphony and chamber music orchestra companies in the US. The event will be highlighting the music works of some popular American composers. Festival of Contemporary Music as the name implies is a music gathering that regularly takes place during the middle of the year. The events start from end June and end in July. This year it has been endowed with the support of Aaron Copland Fund for Music, The National Endowment for the Arts and The Fromm Music Foundation. The venue for this immensely melodious music gathering is a beautiful amphitheater outdoor amphitheater called Tanglewood Music Center. This center is a famous scenic which is used as a summer music academy. It is situated in Lenox Massachusetts. The center is located on 297 West Street in Lenox. It also operates as part of the Tanglewood Music Festival. This place is also the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is one of the most popular orchestras in the US. It is among the Big Five Orchestras in the country. BSO was founded in 1881 and since then it has performed not only in America but also in other parts of the world. Some of the earliest recorded discs by BSO were of Tchaikovsky's fourth symphony finale.  In the past BSO has been headed by acclaimed directors like Karl Muck, Charles Munch, Pierre Monteux, Emil Paur and James Levine.  The current director has been newly appointed in 2014 and his name is Andris Nelsons. It also has a related ensemble called Boston Pops Orchestra.

This year the Festival of Contemporary Music will be directed by two very seasoned musicians/composers Michael Gandolfi and John Harbison. In this festival various orchestras have been invited. They will perform the works of famous American composers like Yehudi Wyner, Steve Mackey and Jacob Druckman. Apart from this, works of other musicians like SCHEUER, Matheson, Druckman will also be played. Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) apart from this will also commission some more folk music performances through its own orchestra. The TMC will commission folk compositions of Bernard Rands as a world premiere.

Festival of Contemporary Music will also be featuring some other amazing music performances with certain titles such as Beautiful Passing Violin Concerto by Mackey, At the Speed of Stillness by Bray, Slonimsky's Earbox by Adams. The conductor of this leg of performances will be Stefan Asbury.
