Miami City Ballet Tickets

The Miami City Ballet is one of the foremost ballet companies active in the US today. Located in the city of Miami Beach, Florida, it was founded in 1986 and continues to operate today, taking ballet to as many people as possible. The company's chief executive is Karen Mitchell with Pamela Gardiner as the director. Lourdes Lopez is the artistic director of the ballet company, which is home to principal dancers, principal soloists, soloists, corps de ballet and apprentices. Each year, many Miami City Ballet tickets are sold for the many classic and contemporary ballets the company stages.

The Miami City Ballet was founded by Edward Villella, the former principal dancer of the New York City Ballet. It has gone on to become one of the most respected ballet companies in the US, which much of the company's ballet repertoire made up of work by the renowned George Balanchine, who was Edward Villella's mentor at the New York City Ballet.  The ballet company also stages works by the likes of Twyla Tharp, Jerome Robbins, Trey McIntyre and Mar Morris. It also performs classic works like Don Quixote and Giselle, amongst other full length classics. The current artistic director of the ballet is Lourdes Lopez, who took on the role in 2012 after Edward Villella, who was the founding artistic director.

The Miami City Ballet is home to more than fifty five international dancers, from many countries of the world including Cuba, China, Venezuela, Switzerland, Japan, France and Germany. Its repertoire is home to ninety eight amazing ballets. Each year, it performs more than a hundred times at various stages. It is the resident ballet company at a number of renowned theatres in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. It also tours the US as well as goes on international tours, visiting many countries of the world. It has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the New York City Center.

The ballet has also performed at events such as the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and the 1996 Olympic Arts Festival. It has also performed at festivals and theaters in Central America, Europe, South America and Israel. In 2006, the company celebrated its twentieth anniversary to much fanfare and with special shows. It also runs the Miami City Ballet School, a ballet academy that was founded in 1993 and has been operational since then. It is today one of the finest ballet schools in the nation, training top ballet talent. The director is Darleen Callaghan, who trains ballet students based upon Edward Villella's training regiment, developed when he was a New York City Ballet dancer.

Each year, around three hundred and seventy five students study at the ballet academy, from which two hundred become part of the Summer Intensive organized each year by the academy. The ballet itself has headquarters at the Ophelia & Juan Js Roca Center, which is located in Miami Beach, Florida. It is a state of the art facility, originally designer by Arquitectonica, which is home to administrative offices, rehearsal studios and the ballet academy.

The ballet is the eighth Largest Ballet Company in the US, with four home counties in Florida; Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Collier. It is the resident ballet company at the Artis-Naples, known also as the Naples Philharmonic Center. Its repertoire is home to ninety eight ballets, including masterworks by George Balanchine.

The ballet has played host to many a world premiere and its repertoire includes works by Frederick Ashton, August Bournonville and Marius Petipa. Each year, nineteen thousand Miami City Ballet tickets are sold for the regular season, added to eleven thousand subscribes. George Balanchine's The Nutcracker alone draws twenty thousand people each year.
