Comedy genius, Christopher Durang has picked some of the most intriguing themes and characters from Chekhov, shuffled and tossed them together to create his most recent piece called 'Vanya Sonia Masha Spike'. The resulting play, which is set in Bucks County, Pennsylvania is not only one of a kind, it is also completely packed with hilarity while being occasionally touching.
The story centers on Vanya and stepsister Sonia, who have lived in their family farmhouse all their lives. While they had to saty home to look after their ill parents, their sister Masha has been trotting around the globe as quite the successful movie star and actress, leaving her Sonia and Vanya feeling utterly trapped. Their cleaning lady, Cassandra continuously warns them difficult situations in the future that include an unexpected visist from Masha along with her twenty-something heart-throb/boy toy, Spike. Directed by Nicholas Martin, the play has been produced by the Lincoln Theatre Center in association with McCarter Theatre Center based in Princeton. Among Martin's many LCT credits are the performances Chaucer in Rome, Time of the Cuckoo, Observe Sons of Ulster March Towards the Somme, The New Century, and Saturn Returns. Vanya Sonia Masha Spike tickets have become the new topic of town talk among theater-goers fond of situation comedies.
