Based on the 1994 Disney film, the Lion King musical is a grippingly entertaining show that has been directed by Julie Taymor and produced by Disney Theatrical. The Daily News calls the production as "a perfect marriage of entertainment and art" while The New York Times believes that "there is simply nothing else like it." The choral arrangements of the musical have been organized by Lebo M and the musical score has been created by Hans Zimmer. In addition to these nominations, the production has also won the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical and Best Choreography among many others. Moreover, the Broadway creation has received several Drama Desk Awards including the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director, Outstanding Choreography and many more.
