He then kicked off a comedy tour, opening up for the likes of Diana Ross, George Benson, Smokey Robinson and Donna Summer. In 1995, he became the American Comedy Awards' Best Male Standup Comedian.
He also became a regular on shows such as Tom Joyner Morning Show as well as the WRKS' Isaach Hayes radio show. On HBO, a number of his specials were aired, followed by regular appearances on the likes of The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman.
