The band signed with a recording label named Polydor to record their debut album, Faust. The album did not do as well as they had hoped, despite favorable reviews, and the group eventually changed their recording company, signing to Richard Branson's Virgin Records. The band turned into one of the first groups to create music which eventually came to be called krautrock. The group has a devoted fan following and is appreciated all over the world for their innovative and unique music. With the new contract in hand, Faust began to work on their next album, which was titled The Faust Tapes. The record was a cut and past collection which consisted of several songs from their private recordings. The album managed to sell more than a hundred thousand copies worldwide.
The band has released numerous hit songs and albums over the course of their career. Some of their most popular albums include Faust So Far, The Faust Tapes, Outside the Dream, Syndicate, which was a collaboration with Tony Conrad, You Know FaUSt, Faust Wakes Nosferatu, Derbe Respect, Outside the Dream Syndicate Alive, C'est Com ... Com ... Complique, Faust is Last, Something Dirty and several more as well. In addition to this, they have also released various hit singles such as So Far, Chemical Imbalance, Uberschall, Trafics, Wir Brauchen Dich, Munich and Elsewhere, The Last LP: Faust Party, 71 Minutes of Faust, Faust/Faust So Farm, Silver Monk Time and countless more as well.
The band played for the first time in the United States in the year 1994, where Diermaier and Peron performed in assistance with Steven Wray Lobdell. Their genre of music includes mostly experimental rock and krautrock. The band broke up in the year 1975, only to be reunited again in the year 1992, and ever since then, they have been creating and producing outstanding music for their fans, which stretch over all parts of the world.
