Wintuk Tickets Wintuck is a unique seasonal residency production created by Canadian circus and street entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil. Wintuk performances are held at the WaMu Theater located in the Madison Square Garden entertainment and shopping facility in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, New York City, U.S. The show?s preview performances were held in the first week of November 2007, following which the production opened its inaugural season and held its debut performance on November 7, 2007. Wintuck is written and directed single-handedly by Richard Blackburn, with Fernando Rainville serving as the production?s creative director, Patricia Ruel as the prop and costume designer, Yves Aucoin as lighting designer, Eleni Uranis as makeup designer, Catherine Archambault as the lead choreographer, and Francois Barbeau as the production?s costume designer. The production?s legendary musical content was done by Simon Carpentier, who was also responsible for the 2003 production of Cirque de Soleil named Zumanity. All the technical aspects of the production were worked upon by a dedicated team of individuals. Some of the people who worked on the technical and logistical side of this production included names such as Daniel Cola, who served as the acrobatics performance designer of this production. Other names include new and upcoming artists like Francis Laporte, who worked as the projections designer, and Guy St-Amour who served as the acrobatic equipment and rigging designer of Wintuck. Wintuck shows are almost always divided into ninety minute performances and twenty minute long intervals. The plot of the show revolves around a young character named Jamie, who is dreading the arrival of winter season that brings with it lots of snow every year. But this year, the absence of snow during the winter season has made the young fellow question and look for the possible reasons behind this climatic change. While searching for the reasons, Jamie comes face to face with several characters such as giant dogs, and talking marionettes. Other notable characters in the show include a shy man known as Wimpy, a young girl known as Shadow girl, and a lonely spiritualist. The show focuses on the make-believe arctic work known as Wintuck, where all these characters are stranded without any sunlight, but with lots of snow creatures around. Once the sunlight returns to Wintuck, Jamie along with other characters are brought home on the back of a cane, and as a result of this the snow starts falling heavily following a snowstorm in the city.
