Blast is conceived by the extremely talented artistic director James Mason. The idea of giving it the final look on stage is presented by George Phinney, who makes it an effort to make it attractive by fast moving geometric choreography, eclectic musical palette and the flashy lightening. Blast traces its history to the mid eighties when the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps competed in the Drum Corps International. Getting appreciated by people for its extraordinary talent, it won the world championship in the early nineties. Soon after the success, it started touring different cities. The musical opened at the Broadway Theater in the early 2000s and to date is playing successfully top theaters countrywide.  


 
Blast is themed with various colors that weave together different parts of the musical. The curtains are raised with the color 'Blue'. Performers act, sing, dance and play on the drum beats, marching across the stage. The well coordinated movements with music immediately grab the attention of the audience. The interest is retained throughout the show with a spectrum of colors showing up along with different sets of dance moves and music. The portrayal of Green Section is represented by a lovely performance Simple Gifts and concludes softly with Copland's Appalachian Spring. Next up is the Black color that pulls the audiences into the energetic drum beats with tunes including Battery Battle, Lemon Techno, Medea and others of the like.
