The musical borrows its basis from the long cherished novel by Daniel Wallace. The show is directed by the multiple Tony-winning Susan Stroman. Some of her notable works include The Producers, Contact and Oklahoma. This time around, she reprises her roles as director and choreographer for Big Fish.

One of his distinguished projects includes The Wild Party for which he won a Drama Desk and an Outer Critics Circle Award. He is also a Tony Award and Grammy nominee for the musicals The Addams Family and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
The ingenious book is by the highly revered John August, the original screenwriter of the Big Fish movie. He is famous for his collaboration with the masterful director Tim Burton for his movies like Corpse Bride. He has also contributed his talents in popular films such as The Nines, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Combining these big names, the show marks a new advancement in the contemporary musicals. This talented trio, with their skillfulness and combined vision proudly presents a production that is worth staging on Broadway.
The story of the musical revolves around a jolly salesman Edward Bloom and his wife Sandra and his alluring art of story-telling. Intrigued by the tales told by her father, Will Bloom is eager to discover the reality behind those fantasizing fables. The chemistry shared between the leading cast members makes the musical a pleasing and life-affirming experience for the audiences. To augment the beauty of their performances, there are terrific sets and songs that take the musical to the next level.
The musical premiered at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago in April 2013. Completing a successful two-month run, Big Fish earned a widespread commercial success. It also received positive reviews from the critical circles and was called "a heartfelt, deep and powerful piece" by the Chicago Tribune. This buzz resulted in the extension of the original production and now the show will be playing in New York for the next couple of months.
The original Broadway cast consists of Norbert Leo Butz, Kate Baldwin and Bobby Steggert. These leading members play Edward, Sandra and Will respectively and amuse the audiences with their charismatic stage presences. All of them are experienced stage professionals and have been the recipients of various awards.
