The legendary artist, Andrea Bocelli was born with a poor eye-sight. His condition worsened with age. By the time he turned twelve, he became completely blind after a football injury. Instead of taking his impairment to heart, he moved on to make a spectacular musician out of him. Music was something that comforted Andrea since childhood. The child prodigy began to take piano lessons when he was six years old. In subsequent years, he learned the skill to play drums, guitar, trumpet, flute and other instruments. He performed at the Margherita d'Oro in Viareggio for a singing competition when he was fourteen years old. Andrea won his first competition with the song 'O sole mio.
In 1992, Andrea caught the attention of Luciano Pavarotti, an Italian tenor. At that time, Italian rock star Zucchero organized auditions for tenors to make a demo recording of the song Miserere, so that it could be forwarded to Pavarotti. Andrea's talents were discovered in the process and his current manager Caterina Caselli was quite a support in this regard. Caterina was the one who sent out the career altering demo tape. Eventually, Zucchero recorded the song whereas Andrea accompanied him on his European concert tour the following year. During the tour, Andrea had the opportunity to sing a duet with Zucchero as well as perform solo act in the concerts. Since then, the career of the brilliant artist hit the high road to success.
This multi-talented artist did not limit himself to singing and songwriting alone. As a crossover performer, Andrea successfully elevated classical music to the topmost tier of the international pop charts. In 1998, People Magazine listed Andrea among the "50 Most Beautiful People." The following year he earned the Grammy Award nomination for the category of "Best New Artist." The duet song he composed with Celine Dion titled The Prayer, won the Golden Globe Award for the category of "Best Original Song." With the release of album "Sacred Arias," Andrea set a "Guinness Book of World Record" by holding three concurrent positions on the US Classical Albums charts. For his contribution to Live Theater, Andrea was praised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Over the years, Andrea has presented his fans with thirteen studio albums, twenty six singles, eight video albums, twenty six music videos and much more.
