Bristol Dragway often spoken of as the Thunder Valley, is not called that just because it passes through a narrow path between the mountains, but also due to its being home to many unbelievable performances. It is essentially a short track venue of NASCAR that was built in 1960 and its first NASCAR event was held in July 1961. It is counted among the most prominent tracks of NASCAR schedule owing to its distinct features, which include unusually steep banking, stadium-like seating, two pit roads and the concrete surface of its entirety. Interestingly, it has been called one of the loudest ever tracks of NASCAR.

This facility has hosted Springnationals of the NHRA through 1965 to 1967, as well as some non-NHRA races until it was shut down for a renovation eighteen million dollars in 1996.
