The Iowa Cubs is a minor league baseball team that is part of the MiLB and that was founded in 1969. It is currently located in Des Moines, Iowa and is a Triple A class level team. It is a member of the Pacific Coast League and has been since 1998, residing in the North Division of the American Conference. Before that, it was a member of the American Association from 1969 to 1997. Within the major league, it is currently affiliated with the Chicago Cubs and has been so since. From its founding until 1973, it was affiliated with the Oakland Athletics. Following that, it spent two years affiliated with the Chicago White Sox and a year with the Houston Astros, returning to the Chicago White Sox from 1976 onto 1980. Before 1982, this team was known as the Iowa Oaks. At present, its main ballpark is the Principal Park, where it has played since 1992. The Iowa Cubs is a team that is owned and run by Raccoon Baseball Inc. Its current general manager is Sam Bernabe. When it comes to titles, it has won many. It is the proud owner of a League Championship that it won in 1993 and a Conference title it won in 2004. Aside from that, it is the recipient of seven Division titles, won in 1973, 1993, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2008. It is a franchise with a rich history behind it. In 1969, it introduced Triple A baseball to Des Moines as a member of the American Association and as an affiliated of the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros. Following the finish of the American Association, it joined the Pacific Coast League and went on to play at the Principal Park ballpark, located where the Raccoon Rivers and the city of Des Moines meet.
 
The Iowa Cubs official mascot is Cubbie Bear, a brown bear who is also the team's ambassador to the schools of the Iowa region and at charity events. It has been home to many famous pro baseball players, including Chicago Club players such as Greg Maddux, Mark Grace, Rafael Palmeiro, Doug Glanville, Corey Patterson, Joe Carter, Carlos Zambrano, Kerry Wood, Kyle Farnsworth, Steve Trachsel, Bruce Kimm, Tuffy Rhodes, Shawon Dunston, Mark Prior, Héctor Villanueva, Sam Fuld, John Grabow, and Rod Beck. It has been home to MLB stars such as Bill McNulty, Pat Tabler and Vida Blue who won the MVP Award and the Cy Young Award. This league and conference champion is therefore a must see live.
