The Hamilton Tiger Cats are a very popular member of the Canadian Football League. They play in the East Division of the CFL. Founded in 1950 in Hamilton, the team was a result of the merger between the Hamilton Wildcats and the Hamilton Tigers. Currently the team is owned by Bob Young, managed and trained by GM/Head coach Kent Austin. The team's mascots are TC, Stripes and Pigskin Pete while official colors black, white and gold. The Toronto Argonauts and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are their arch rivals.
 
The team started playing in 1950 with the Ivor Wynne Stadium as their home stadium. The team remains loyal to the ground to date. Before the merger they played at the Hamilton Amateur Athletic Association Grounds from 1872 to 1949. The Ivor Wynne Stadium is being reconstructed to be placed by the New Hamilton Stadium. The team has a great history in CFL. Since their inaugural, they have grown and become one of the most followed and admired teams in the Eastern Division. They have eight Grey's Cups under their belt, the most recent one won in 1999. Interestingly, the team also acknowledges wins by other teams from the area as their own. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club recognized a total of fifteen wins which include five by the Hamilton Tigers, one by the Hamilton Flying Wildcats and one by the Hamilton Alerts.
 
Apart from the Grey's Cups the team also Hamilton football club has won a total of twenty-one Eastern regular season championships and eighteen Eastern Division championships. That means winning achampionships in each and every decade until the new millennium.  This kind of a record is a very strong one and North American franchise in professional sports, the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings (International League) and the Montreal Canadiens (NHL). However, neither of these teams have been able to take a championship back home until 2010.
 
The first four decades of the Tigers made them an iconic franchise. They were a model team with strong roster and great game that made them qualifying for the playoffs. They won seven Grey Cup championships as well as one of the few teams that lifted the Grey Cup at home. The team has experienced the most difficult times in 2003 when they won one and lost seventeen games of a CFL season. After struggling for almost seven years the team started to make desired progress. It slowly emerged out of the shell in 2010 when it made it to the post-season. From then onwards the team has made it twice to the post seasons.
