Some of the best young players in ice hockey will put their skills on show for the world to see when the Vancouver Giants start to play. They are a team from the minor hockey league who have established themselves as a formidable force over the years. Watch them in their quest to make their mark once again live by booking Vancouver Giants tickets.
The Vancouver Giants came into existence in 2001. Ron Toigo a businessman formed a consortium that was given the right to start a Western Hockey League in Vancouver. So they got together and created the Giants as we see them today. The team took to the ice rink for the first time in the 2001-2002 campaign. The first goal in the franchise history was scored against Kamloops Blazers. Tyson Mulock was the scorer but the Giants went on to lose that game.
In their second season the Giants went as high as the fourth spot in the division which was good enough to earn them a spot in the playoffs. Forty three goals were scored by Adam Courchaine during that campaign, a record that stood for six years. The team's fortunes kept on improving constantly and the Giants recorded 34-30-4-4 record the next season. That record earned them their second straight playoff berth.
The season of 2005-2006 was the one that propelled the Giants to where they wanted to be. The franchise captured their first division title by the end of that season. The success didn't end there and the Giants capped off that memorable campaign by lifting the prestigious President Cup as well.
The Vancouver Giants lifting of the President Cup gave them an automatic shot at the Memorial Cup. They were also given the rights to play host to the next year's Memorial Cup. The Giants made it another memorable campaign. They lifted the division title once again and also managed to get their hands on the first conference crown.
The Giants made the most of being the host of the Memorial Cup by lifting the trophy in their backyard in front of their adoring fans. The 2007-2008 campaign ended with the Giants once again being crowned the division champions. The same pattern followed in the next two seasons to make it five division titles in a row. The Giants have well and truly arrived and they have arrived with some swagger.
The Vancouver Giants are well and truly a force to be reckoned with. They have been there and done that by winning everything there is to be won in the sport. No one can now dispute the fact that they really are the Giants of junior ice hockey. Their stature as one of the big boys makes them a benchmark for a lot of teams around them. Now that they are once again set to conquer the league, grab your Vancouver Giants tickets and root for your favorite team from the bleachers.
