One of the most popular minor leagues in the US today is the International League. Two teams from this league will face each other for one of the most exciting games this season. One of the franchises hails from Syracuse and the other one comes from Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte Knights is a Triple-A class team, and has been since 1993. It is a member of the South Division of the International League and was formerly a member of the Southern League, from 1976 to 1992. The team is affiliated with Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball. In the past, it has remained under the affiliation of teams like, Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles. The Knights have won four League titles as well as three Division titles, most recently in 2006 and 2012. They currently play their home games at the BB&T Ballpark.

 

The Knights club is owned by Bill Allen and Don Beaver. The team has won such championships as the North Carolina League Championship thrice, the Piedmont League Championship twice, the Tri-State League Championship thrice, the Southern League championship twice and the Governors' Cup International League Championship twice. Facing them in the upcoming game are The Chiefs, hailing from Syracuse. Formed in 1934, they are based in New York, and have been a Triple-A team since 1946. They are members of the North Division of the International League. They have been affiliated with the Washington Nationals of the MLB since 2009.

 

Syracuse Chiefs have won a record eight League titles and one Division title. They play home games at the NBT Bank Stadium. The franchise is owned by the Community Baseball Club of Central New York, Inc. One of the most popular teams in the MiLB, over four hundred thousand people attend their games each season. The Chiefs have won the Governors' Cup eight times and have played in the championship seventeen times. They have also won the International League pennant eight times and the Junior World Series once.
