Sacramento River Cats
The Sacramento River Cats is an interesting name of a minor league baseball team, which is based in Sacramento of California. The team has been playing in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and is considered as a Triple-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Oakland Athletics.

The River Cats normally play in Raley Field, which is located in West Sacramento. The team had a beginning in 1978 under the name of Vancouver Canadians, and it used to play the home games at Nat Bailey Stadium till the 1999 season. They had won the Triple-

A World Series of the season and the team was purchased by a group led by Art Savage and moved to Sacramento for the 2000 season.

Sacramento has been leading all of the minor league baseball, during all of its first eight seasons at Raley Field. The team has an estimated number of averages of 10,000 fans per game during the 2007 regular season.

The name of the franchise in Sacramento was the Sacramento Solons for many years, and it was founded in 1903. There were three categories of the Solons, represented California's capital city in 1903, 1905, from 1909 through 1914, from 1918 through 1960, and from 1974 through 1976.

But the arrival of the River Cats at Raley Field, has led all the minor leagues of baseball to attend the occasion every year. The River Cats have won four consecutive Pacific Coast League South Division titles from 2000 through 2004, and back-to-back league championships in 2003 and 2004.

They had won the South Division and league championships again and even defeated the Richmond Braves in that year's Bricktown Showdown on September 18.

Sacramento River Cats had celebrated the eighth year in California's Capital City. They had attained an unbelievable success in the first four years, by winning four Pacific Coast League South Division titles from 2000 to 2004 and back-to-back PCL Championships 2003 & 2004.

Being a Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, the River Cats have graduated more than 60 players to the next level. The River Cats has been a talk of the town among the of Minor League Baseball teams.

It is due to the winning of various awards for its business practices and outstanding community efforts. The Sacramento's franchise has led all of Minor League Baseball in attendance during each of its eight seasons at Raley Field.

The franchise was purchased by majority owner Art Savage in October 1998 and he decided to relocate to Sacramento prior to the 2000 season from Vancouver of Canada. The stadium is spread around the Sacramento River in West Sacramento; the privately financed ballpark is the crowned jewel of Minor League Baseball.
