Real Mallorca is a fabulous Spanish soccer team which was founded in 1916 and is known fully as the "Real Club Deportivo Mallorca S.A.D." Real Mallorca, a member of the Spanish first division, has red and black as official team colors. It is the oldest club in the Balearic Islands and was founded by engineer Adolfo Vazquez and it played at a stadium known as Buenos Aires. Its first match was against FC Barcelona, with the club changing its name to Real Sociedad Alfonso XIII in the year 1917. Its present name was adopted in 1931 and in 1949 it received royal patronage. Beginning from 1931 the team began playing matches on the national level and in 1945, their new stadium Es Forti was opened at a time when it had reached the second division of La Liga.

The team went on to appear four times in the La Liga between 1959 and 1975. The trend continued well into the eighties and nineties before it returned for good in the year 1996. In 1997 it finished second in the La Liga. In 1999 the club made it to the finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. In 2003, it won the Copa del Rey trophy after defeating Recreativo de Huelva by 3-0 in a sensational match.

In 2009 the club was bought from the Marti-Mingarro family by Mateo Alemany who became its president. In 2010, the club was bought by a group lead by Lorenza Serra Ferrer, former manager of the club which also included the likes of Mallorca native and tennis legend Rafael Nadal 

In 2010 the club finished fifth in the league, a remarkable achievement. It has ranked first in its division over ten times and has won the Copa del Rey once, and has been the runner up twice. It has also won the Supercopa de Espana once and been the runner up once as well. It has won two Segunda Division titles, one Segunda Division B title and been the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup runner up. It has come third twice in the La Liga, making it one of the best teams in the league. Its fastest goal is scored by Dani Garcia in just twenty two seconds.
