The Portland Sea Dogs is a minor league baseball team that is part of the MiLB and that has been active since its founding back in 1994. It is located in Portland, Maine today and is an AA class level team. It is a member of the Eastern League's Eastern Division. Within the major league, it is affiliated with the Boston Red Sox as of 2003. Prior to that, it was affiliated to the Florida Marlins from its founding until 2002. The team's ballpark is the Hadlock Field, where it has played vividly since its founding. The Portland Sea Dogs is the proud owner of a number of spectacular titles. Foremost among these is an Eastern League title that was won in 2006. Aside from that, it has also won five amazing Division titles out of which the first three were won in 1995, 1996 and 1997 whereas the last two were won in 2005 and 2006. It has made it to the Eastern League championships twice, in 2005 and 2006, right after being affiliated with the Boston Red Sox. In 2006, the first League championship was won during a match in which they defeated the Akron Aeros by 8-5. With this match, it made history and became the first Boston Red Sox farm team to win a AA League Championship since 1983.
 
The Portland Sea Dogs playing stadium, the Hadlock Field, is named after famous coach Edison Hadlock and has a seating capacity of around seven thousand three hundred. The stadium and thus the games have attracted many a celebrity including President George Bush and his wife, Barbara Bush as well as Bill Parcells, a former NFL coach. It is home to one of the landmarks of the city, the Maine Monster which is a thirty seven foot high copy of the Green Monster in Fenway Park, complete with a Citgo sign and a Coke bottle. It is also home to two picnic pavilions that can accommodate around three hundred people each.
 
The Portland Sea Dogs games are broadcast on a number of radio stations such as WVAE/WBAE by Mike Antonellis with play by play commentary and on TV channels such as NESN with play by play commentary by Ken Ryan, a former Boston Red Sox pitcher and Eric Frede.
