The Pittsburgh Pirates are members of the National League and have been since 1887. They were formerly members of the East Division but joined the Central Division in 1994. The Pirates will face the Tampa Bay Rays. Founded in 1998, they are members of the East Division of the MLB's American League. The team's official colors are white, navy, gold and Columbia blue. Before 2008, they were known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, thus the nickname the D-Rays. They have been playing at the Tropicana Field since 1998 and won an American League Pennant in 2008. The Rays have also won two East Division titles and made it to the playoffs in 2011 and 2013 via wild card berths.

The Rays are owned by Stuart Sternberg and are managed by Joe Maddon.  Andrew Friedman serves as the team's general manager.
