With an astounding record forty one domestic league titles to their name, the Kokkinoi are hands down the most successful and dominant club in Greece. The club has also won a record twenty six Greek Cups and have won a record sixteen domestic doubles along the way. Due to their incredible domestic success, the team is a regular feature in Europe's elite competition, the Champions League.

The club was founded in 1925 and the name and emblem of the club were a tribute to Olympic winners. During its early years, the club enjoyed a lot of success and had already won six titles by 1940. The team was led by the legendary Andrianopoulos brothers, the five of whom made half the side.

The team continued flourishing and maintained a stronghold on the Greek soccer league. The legendary Olympiacos team of the 1950s won a then record six consective league titles from 1954-1959. However, between 1986 and 1994 the team endured nine trophy-less seasons.  This was their worst record ever and this period in the club's history is called "Olympiacos' Stone Years".

During the late 90s the team saw a change in fortunes. As the profile of the club grew, it was able to attract world class players from all over the world. Some of the biggest names to play for Olympiacos during this time were Giovanni, Zlatko Zahovic and former World Champions Christian Karembeu and Rivaldo. This team bested the club's own record and won seven consecutive league titles. The team also made it to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League, which was the club's best performance in the prestigious tournament.

Despite being a successful season for the club, they have fallen a little short of their own absurd standards. Olympiacos are well poised to win a record forty second league title, however, they crashed out in the semi-finals of the Greek Football Cup tournament to POAK.  The club had a memorable European experience as well this year. They made it to the round of sixteen in the UEFA Champion's league. Olympiacos recorded a memorable 2-0 home victory over the English champions Manchester United, but lost 3-0 at Old Trafford to be eliminated from the competition.

The Greek Champions will come to the International Champions Cup looking to establish their name against some of the biggest clubs in the world. The team has risen if profile especially after their 2-0 drubbing of Manchester United, so it will be interesting to see if the Greek Champions can repeat something similar at the ICC.
