NFL Pro Bowl is National Football League's all-star game. National Football League is American professional football's highest level league. The league was started in 1920 with 11 teams. Today NFL is made up of a total of 32 teams from United States. In NFL Pro Bowl, the players are chosen through voting procedure. The voting is done by the fans, coaches and players themselves. Before 1995, the voting was done by the coaches and players alone, but now the fans can vote over NFL's official website. One third of the votes are counted from each group's ballot. The criterion of being a Pro Bowler is either to have been a selected player by the team or invited as a replacement. Being a Pro Bowler is considered as an honor and those that get to play for NFL Pro Bowl belong to the "elite" class of football players.

A rule was introduced during the seasons of 2010 and 2011 that the coaches for the teams that lose the divisional playoffs but have the best regular season record will be leading their own conferences in NFL Pro Bowl and for the teams that have lost conference game and have a similar regular season record will have coaches selected from the higher-seeded team.

From 1951 ? 56, an award for the Player of the Game was honored to the best player of the game. Outstanding Back and Outstanding Lineman awards were awarded from 1957 ? 1971. Since 2008, the name of the award was changed and now Most Valuable Player award is awarded. The successful player is presented with the Dan McGuire Award.

NFL Pro Bowl uniforms are unique as it gets confusing with players from various different teams are chosen for the game.
