Despite being founded in 1983, the franchise traces its roots back to its days as a Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox from 1965, following which the team moved to Rhode Island and then to Bristol. Until then, they were known as the Red Sox and were a Triple-A team. The Phils play home games at the FirstEnergy Stadium and is owned by the Philadelphia Phillies. Dusty Wathan is the team's manager with Scott Hunsicker as the general manager. They are affiliated with major league baseball's Philadelphia Phillies who also own them and have the longest affiliation in minor league baseball.
