The conception of a race specifically designated to cater o trucks goes all the way back the early part of the 1990's, 1993 to be precise. It came from the minds of four racers from the SCORE, a completely truck desert race series held in the US. They wanted to promote truck races to the masses so in order to realize that dream they decided to come up with a modified version of a traditional pickup truck. A sample of the vehicle was completed and was put on the race track for the first time at Daytona 500 in 1994. Four races on trial basis were staged that year to test the concept. These events were held at the Mesa Marin Raceway, the Tucson Raceway Park, Portland Speedway and the Saugus Speedway. Those events provided a different type of racing to the fans. The races attracted a lot of positive attention from the masses so NASCAR decided to make it an official part of their annual racing calendar starting next year.
