The National Collegiate Athletic Association's most successful football teams will be battling it out for the win at the Papa John Stadium. Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be heading to Louisville this season, hoping to add to its list of wins. The Demon Deacons is the name adopted by all the sports teams that represent the Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. The sports' department of the university has 16 varsity teams of sports including football, basketball, golf, soccer, field hockey and rugby to name a few. Ending their first season with a score of 3-1, the Cardinals became a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1914. During the team's initial years it competed with other Kentucky based collegiate teams from Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown College, Western Kentucky, Murray State and Transylvania. During the next three decades, Louisville Cardinals recorded their largest win with a score of 100-0 against Washington College. It also celebrated its first undefeated season with a score of 8-0 in 1925. Over the years, the Cardinals has participated in numerous conferences such as the Missouri Valley Conference from 1963-1974, Big East Conference from 2005-2012 and the American Athletic Conference in 2013.
