Minor League Baseball team, Long Island Ducks, is based in Central Islip, New York, while they play for the Liberty Division of the Atlantic League. Unlike most of the Minor League teams Long Island Ducks is not affiliated with any of the Major League Baseball team.

Citibank Park is Ducks home ground, where they play their home games ever since 2000. Before the ballpark got the name Citibank Park, it was known as EAB Park. Long Island is famous for its duck farming heritage, which is why the team was named Ducks.

By the summer of 2001, Ducks were able to attract 443,142 fans, in order to make the independent league baseball single season attendance record, breaking their previous record they was set by the Ducks in the year 2000. The team reached its bench mark of taking its total attendance to 3 million fans in September 2006.

The first person to take the charge of the team as its General Manager was Bud Harrelson, who also owns the team partially. In the year 2000, the Ducks played their inaugural season at their newly opened ball park.

Long Island Ducks have been able to get sound support from the fans from the day one, because before the arrival of the Ducks, long Island was deprived of baseball action as the territorial rights of New York Yankees and New York Mets prevented the inception of any Major or Minor league baseball team with in the radius of 75 miles around their respective home grounds.

So it was a great treat for the baseball fans of Long Island to have Long Island Ducks represent them, which is why fans attendance at Ducks ballpark has been massive since their inception, but unfortunately that didn't bring Ducks any in game success until 2004 when they ultimately won Atlantic League Championship.

Every year huge number of baseball fans, from the Long Island, gather at the Ducks ballpark which provides an excellent opportunity for the organizations of different sorts to advertise their businesses with the help of Long Island Ducks. Since the opening of the Ballpark in April 2000 up till today, Ducks have been able to attract a total of 3,495,300 fans at the Citibank Park.

Ducks have always been the leader of the entire independent leagues in setting the attendance records every year. Long Island Ducks attract average of 6100 fans per game, which is more than the capacity of the ball park that is 6,002. Ever since 2000 till present, a total of 572 games opened at Citibank Park out of which 443 games were sold out, taking Ducks sell out percentage to 77.4%.

As cited by SportsTicker Enterprises in 2007, among 250 minor league teams, Long Island Ducks have managed to stay on the upper 10 per cent on the part of its average attendance and capacity percentage.
