The Lipscomb Bisons presents the Lipscomb University Athletics Program. The University offers sports for both men and women including Baseball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball and others.

These programs run under Lipscomb University Department of Athletics who is responsible for the control and conduct of the intercollegiate athletics program including student-athletes, coaches, staff and boosters.

The Bisons are known for their power play and popularity. From being a small-college sports powerhouse, notably in baseball and basketball in the NAIA to be the member of NCAA Division I and competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference; the Bisons have seen rapid growth in their play and fame since their inception.

Lipscomb Bisons have always been appreciated for their good play and sportsman spirit for years. The Bisons hit it in a big in 2007 both the men Bisons and the Lady Bisons enjoyed several successes.

Toping the list is the Bisons Baseball team that won its first-ever Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship and made its first trip to the NCAA Tournament, beating Georgia, the runner-up nationally, one out of two games.

The volleyball team also followed the successful path as Lady Bisons won its first Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Bisons soccer team made a trip to the A-Sun Tournament and advanced to the semifinals. The Lady Bisons softball team tied for the regular season league championship, its first ever in the A-Sun.

The most tempting point for Bisons fans besides their play is the auspicious Allen Arena where the basketball fans enjoy the men's and women's basketball tournaments. Opened on October 28, 2001 with a capacity of more than 5,000 people; this versatile facility hosts athletic events and on campus convocations.

The Bisons have always remained the heroes of their fields. The team has produced many Hall Of Famers along with a promising new lot. Their Hall of Fame was established in 1986 to recognize those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Lipscomb University in the field of athletics.

The talk of Bisons can never be completed without the mention of their long and notorious rivalry with Belmont. Both the schools located less than three miles apart on Belmont Boulevard and share a special basketball bond.

These two schools have faced each other 122 times since 1953. Their basketball teams are two of the most storied teams in college basketball history. Both used to be the NAIA powerhouses and were intense rivals.

The rivalry started somewhere in the 1980?s. It grew as fierce as ever and hit the high point when they both leaped to NCAA Division One in the late 1990?s.

Today they face each other at least twice a year as Atlantic Sun Conference foes. Their games are known as ?The Battle of the Boulevard? and become a must-see one for all basketball fans across the country.

The largest Battle of the Boulevard was played at Vanderbilt?s Memorial Gym on Feb. 17, 1990. This was the largest-attended basketball game in NAIA history as over 16,000 fans packed the venue to watch Lipscomb defeat Belmont 124-107. The Battle was reborn on Jan. 27, 2004 in front of 4,176 fans in Lipscomb?s Allen Arena.

Lipscomb lost this extra period game by 66-64 to start a fierce stretch of competition between the two teams. Another bittersweet ?Battle of the Boulevard? was fought in 2006 at Atlantic Sun Championship in Johnson City, Tenn.

Now when the tournament returns for the 2008-2009 season, expectations are on all time-high. This time Bisons are out to fight only to win, so watch out for them as they are unstoppable.
