Based in Hoffman Estates, the Chicago Slaughter is an American professional indoor football team. The franchise was part of the Continental Indoor Football League from 2007-2009. They won the championship in 2009 and joined the Indoor Football League for the season next year. Sears Centre is the home arena for the Slaughters, and notable players on the team include Russ Michna, Jarrett Payton, Matt Rahn, Bobby Sippio, Donovan Morgan and Juice Williams.
Initially when the team emerged in 2006, they were referred to as the "Foxes". The head coach Steve McMichael suggested that the team should have a name that reflects the working class in Chicago. The name "Chicago Slaughter" was influenced by the meatpackers of the old Chicago Stockyards. For the position of head coach, the franchise interviewed Steve McMichael as well as William "The Refrigerator" Perry. Both of them were part of the Super Bowl XX championship winning team, the Chicago Bears. The team wanted to cash in on the affinity that the local fans had for these two football heroes. McMichael accepted the offer to lead the team. His love for football made it easier for the team to tap the local spectators and establish a connection.
In one of their upcoming games, the Slaughter will take on the Northern Kentucky River Monsters. Come watch the teams live in action at The Bank of Kentucky Center by getting Kentucky vs Chicago Slaughter tickets. The venue is Kentucky's home arena.
The Northern Kentucky River Monsters are a professional indoor football team based in Highland Heights. The team emerged in the 2011 season and was a charter member of the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL). They were just one season down the road in the UIFL when they decided to part ways with the league. Year 2014 marked the return of the team after a hiatus of two years. The River Monsters are now a member of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) and play in the league's South Division. Owned by Jill Chitwood, the River Monsters were also regarded as charter members of the Stadius Football Association, but unfortunately that league never formalized.
The team is led by Head Coach Mike Goodpaster and General Manager John Jackson. Notable players for the franchise include T. J. Harris, Tyler Owens, Kyle James, Richie Cox, Shawn McGarity, and Dustin Zink. The remarkable players of Northern Kentucky River Monsters are fully geared up to give the Chicago Slaughter a tough competition.
