The race counted toward the European Championship from 1935 to 1938. It was one of the inaugural Formula One championship races in 1950, and has been taken place every year since then. The only other championship series taking place each year is the British Grand Prix.
In 1961 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on 10 September 1961 at Monza. The day will be remembered for the most terrible accident, the Formula One Race had in its history.
The German driver Wolfgang Von Trips, on lap 2, lost control of his Ferrari and crashed against a stand full of spectators. Besides driver's death, the accident took away the lives of 14 other people.
At the end of the season 2006, Michael Schumacher, the legend, announced his retirement from Formula 1 racing. He has won the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, Kimi R?ikk?nen replaced him at Ferrari from the beginning of the 2007 season.
