Indiana Fever, a professional women?s basketball team who plays for Women?s National Basketball Association. Indianapolis is Indiana?s capital and the largest city of the country, where Fevers are based.

In year 2000, they played in the league for the first time. This team is NBA?s Indiana Pacer?s sister team, and plays at Conseco Filedhouse (located in Downtown Indianapolis).

Indiana Fever was initiated in 2000, once the state was granted an extension franchise to correspond with the opening of Conseco Filedhouse.

During the first two seasons, Anne Donovan was their coach. Led by center Kara Wolters, in their inaugural campaign the team posted a record of 9-23.

In 2001, Tamika Catchings became the star of University of Tennesse. The very next year, Fever had high expectations to win the playoff, but Catchings ripped her ACL during a college game and missed the entire WNBA season. The team posted a 10-22 record in 2001.

As The Fevers missed the entire 2001 season, 2002 proved to be the breakout season for Tamika Catchings as well for The Fevers. Working hard, Catchings became one of the most versatile players in WNBA, who won Rookie of the Year honors as well as made WNBA All-Star team.

Competing well all year, her team posted a 16-16 record, tying up for the final with Orlando Miracle. Indiana would win the final game and receive their first victory in the history of franchise.

In 2002-2003 several changes occurred for The Fever. Before 2003 session, Olympian Natalie Williams and Charlotte Sting star Kelly Miller were brought to the team.

GM Nell Fortner (the original coach) resigned during the off season, and was replaced by Kelly Krauskop. Brian Winters was hired as the head coach. The Fever registered their first sellout of 18,435 and defeated Washington Mystics on May 29, 2003.

The team performed better under the new coaching, but still missed the playoffs (posting a 16-18 record). Team?s performance in 2004 was same as of in 2003.Whereas, 2005 proved to be their best season since they joined the league.

During the first round, Fever had beaten the New York Liberty and earned their first playoff victory. In the Eastern Conference Finals, The Fever will have to play against Connecticut Sun. When Katie Douglas hit a decisive three to win the game for her team, game 1 came down to final seconds.

The fever replaced Kelly Miller by All-Star Anna DeForge in 2005-2006.Later another All-Star addition was made by signing Tamika Whitmore from Los Angeles.

In 2006, The Fever jumped into an early lead at Eastern Conference Standings. A 21-13 record was posted by The Fevers. During the first round, The Fever would come across Detroit. Detroit had already won the game 1 in Indianapolis.

In Game 2, Tamika Whitmore scored WNBA a Playoff record of 41 points. In the end, Detroit won the game by 98-83.In 2006-2007, it seemed that The Fever are improving their performance.

In the Dispersal Draft, the Fever would include expert forward Sheri Sam. They would also select 6-7 center from Duke University in 2007to accompany Sutton Brown.

On October 26, 2007 it was announced by The Fever that they have refused to the option for head coach, Brian Winters. This ends his four year tenure as the Head Coach. On December 12, 2007 assistant coach, Lin Dunn took his place as the head coach.

Home jerseys were white in colour with red, dark blue and yellow on the sides. Fever was written across on the front. The road jersey was dark blue in colour with red and yellow on the sides. Indiana was trimmed with white colour on the chest.

The new home jerseys are white in colour. They have blue and yellow strips from neck down to the side. Fever is written in red colour, across the front and name of the player is written on the back in dark blue colour. Number is written in dark blue colour as well.

The new road jerseys are dark blue having yellow and white strips. Indiana is written on the front with red colour. Name of the player and number is written on the back. Every jersey has Fever?s logo printed at the top on the back.
