The official mascot of the World Cup is a grey wolf named Goooly as the wolf is a typical Slovak animal. Out of the 16 nations which will be a part of the Ice Hockey World Cup 2011, 14 teams are from Europe and only two from North America. Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and United States are the teams taking part in the World Cup 2011. Based on the 2010 IIHF World Ranking, the teams has been seeded in four groups. The roster which the teams submitted to the IIHF consists of forwards and defencemen players consisting of 15 skaters at the least and 2 goaltenders. Group A includes Russia, Slovakia, Germany and Slovenia; Group B includes Canada, Switzerland, Belarus and France; Group C includes Sweden, United States, Norway and Austria while Group D includes Finland, Czech Republic, Latvia and Denmark. The notable referees who will be a part of the World Cup include Vyacheslav Bulanov, Danny Kurmann, Peter Orszag, Brent Reiber and Jyri Ronn.
