The Houston Astros were established in 1962 and were first named the Colt .45s. The name was eventually changed to the Astros in 1965, when they moved to their new stadium, the Astrodome. The name was based on Houston's famous association with the national space program. They went on to win two more west division titles before joining the central division where they won four titles.
