Until the club entered the professional division, 1899 Hoffenheim's home stadium was the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion. The club played their first match at the newly constructed stadium named Rhein-Neckar-Arena in 2009.
The modern incarnation of the club can be traced back to the end of the WWII, when a local gymnastics and football club merged to form Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft 1899 Hoffenheim e.V. It worked wonders for the team, as Hoffenheim topped the Verbandsliga and was consequently promoted to Oberliga Baden-Württemberg (division IV).
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim repeated the feat again in 2001 to be promoted to Regionalliga Süd (division III). These would bear fruit in the form of the club getting promoted the second division Bundesliga in 2006-2007. The most astonishing results were however still to come, as 1899 Hoffenheim, in its first year as a profession football outfit, finished second in division-II, and hence were promoted to the highest professional football league in Germany, Bundesliga (division1).
1899 Hoffenheim is still playing in the Bundesliga and are working hard to improve their game and finish in the top five of the league and be eligible to play in the UEFA Europa League a tournament of the top clubs from all over Europe.
