Some places in the world are known for their beauty and richness in arts and culture as well as hospitality of local population, like El Salvador. Once you have been there, you would definitely like to visit again.
The name El Salvador is a Spanish word, meaning Republic of the Savior. It is a country located in the Central American region, being the smallest and most densely populated country there. According to an estimate, over 5,744,113 people reside in El Salvador, with a predominance of Mestizo ancestry. The country has recently adapted US Dollar as its currency instead of its native one called Colon. The capital and the largest city in the country is named San Salvador. According to history, the place was discovered first after Spain conquered Pipil people of Cuzcatlan, meaning The Place of Precious Diamonds and Jewels. Even today, the term Cuzcatleco is often used for people who have a Salvadorian heritage.
The country is now making rapid progress in terms of industrialization, but it has not forgotten its roots and arts. The country pays a special emphasis over preservation of its heritage and despite deep influence of the United States; they have managed to survive as an independent nation. The official language is Spanish, as original native Salvadorian race is now rare to be seen, and almost all the inhabitants feel themselves comfortable in Spanish. Predominant religion is Christianity, with over 52.6 % Catholics and 27.9 % Protestants.
The culture is dominated by Mestizo traditions, with newer generations of European descent interacting with local Salvadorian population, giving rise to a mixture of arts and culture. In Mestizo culture, a pivotal role is played by Catholic Church, as religion is an important part of their lives. The nation considers Archbishop Oscar Romero as their national hero for his untiring efforts in resisting human rights violations in the area, especially in the era of Salvadorian Civil War.
Specific artistic crafts of the area include Ceramics, textile goods and paintings. The country has produced many renowned musicians, artists and writers that provide an evidence of El Salvador's rich cultural traditions. The country also has great tourist attractions. Every year thousands of tourists visit the area in order to admire the natural beauty this part of the earth is blessed with, and also to have a good time enjoying the nightlife of El Salvador. The landscape is beautiful and attracts thousands of nature lovers every year. In the recent years, the rapid industrialization and so - called Americanization has led to the introduction of sky scraper buildings and huge malls in the country, depicting their economic growth.
