Nicknamed the Esks and the Eskies, the Edmonton Eskimos are a professional football team, Canadian in origin. Founding in the year 1949 they are a part of the Canadian Football League and play in the West Division. The official colors used by the football team are gold and green and the team is known to play all their home games at the Commonwealth Stadium that is situated in Edmonton's Norwood Area. The Commonwealth Stadium broke ground in the year 1978 and was recently renovated in the year 2000 and then again in 2010. The stadium is an outdoor arena which cost a whopping ninety five million dollars and can become a host to over sixty thousand enraging fans. The Esks are at the current moment, the most successful and popular franchise that have won numerous championships. Ever since the year 1954, the Esks have won a total of thirteen Grey Cups. They are on the second position to win the most Grey Cups, with the Toronto Argonauts being on the number one position with a total of fifteen cups.

Being a community owned professional football team; the Edmonton Eskimos hold various records, one of which includes the team's qualification for a total of thirty four playoffs from the years 1972 till the year 2005. One of the biggest rivals of the Esks is the Calgary Stampeders who are a professional football team from the city of Calgary situated in Alberta. If you wish to see the team live in action all you need to do is purchase Edmonton Eskimos tickets.

The Esks were previously known as Esquimaux from the years 1897 to the year 1910. Till the year 1978, the Esks used to play all of their home games at the Clarke Stadium that was also located in the Edmonton area. This particular stadium could host up to twenty one thousand enraging and excited football fanatics. However, due to less seating capacity, the football team was moved to the Commonwealth Stadium by the end of 1978. Currently this professional team is owned by three shareholders; Winnipeg, the Canadian Football League and Saskatchewan. The current coach of the team is Kavis Reed who was inducted in the year 2011 and is still under the coachman-ship title. The team's mascots are two characters named Punter and Nanook. The first mascot was introduced in the year 1997 and was called Nanook and the second mascot was introduced in the year 2005; Punter.

The Esks are perhaps the only team in North America to win five consecutive Grey Cup championships holding their record up till now. In the year 2011, several players were added into the hall of fame amongst a few of which include Warren Moon, Sean Fleming, Tom Scott, Don Getty, Johnny Bright, Tom Wilkinson, Frank Morris, Larry Wruck, Brian Kelly, Rod Connop and Jackie Parker, to name just a few. If you wish to see them fight against their rivals, remember to purchase Edmonton Eskimos tickets.
