Tulane Green Wave will be challenging Duke Blue Devils at the latter team's home stadium. Formed in 1893, Tulane Green Wave represents the football varsity sport of the Tulane University. Introduced by Thomas and Hugh Bayne, who previously played football at the Yale University, the debut game of the team took place on the New Year's Day, in 1890. Within three years the football team played its first intercollegiate game. Over the years the Green Wave became a successful collegiate team, creating a perfect score in the 1900 season. With a 5-0 season, the Green Wave defeated successful rivals such as Mississippi Rebels Ole Miss, LSU Tigers, Millsaps and Alabama Crimson Tide. The year 1912 was a memorable one for the football team from Tulane as it scored 95 points and 15 rushing touchdowns, a record that remains unbroken. Remaining a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association until 1922, the team went on to join the Southern Conference in 1922, before partaking in the Southeastern Conference. Formed in 1888, the Devils is the official football varsity sport that represents the Duke University. Initially a part of the FBS Independents, the Blue Devils joined the Southern Conference. It was in 1930 that the team scored its big break as the legendary player Wallace Wade, decided to leave Alabama Crimson Tide to join Duke Blue Devils. In 1938, the side made its debut Rose Bowl appearance. It was during this year that the team got its nickname, "Iron Dukes." The Blue Devils have 17 Conference titles, amongst which include 7 Atlantic Coast Conference titles and 10 Southern Conference titles, 4 Consensus All-Americans and a ACC Division win to its name.
