Any university is considered incomplete if there are no sports teams in there. Drexel University is considered to be one of the finest ones as Drexel Dragons have outshined their name in every respect. Having eighteen NCAA Division I sports teams for both men and women, Drexel Dragons compete in Colonial Athletic Association. US News rated Dragons at number one for gender equity while the teams have displayed a praiseworthy student athletic and academic performance which stamps the opinion that sports sharpens the minds and further refines them instead of derailing the students from their academic goals. With a proud National Title as the only sign of recognition, the team was rated number one in 1958 as the Dragon Soccer team.
One of the oldest teams under the umbrella of Drexel Dragons is that of basketball. With the remarkable 109 season attendance, the team 1119 games and lost 940 which is not a disappointing score for sure. In 1973 Dragons joined Division I with Bruiser Flint as the head coach of the basketball men's team. Drexel Dragons were able to make their appearances at the Division II NCAA titles four times.
The women's basketball team is nowhere behind any other team as they were successful in breaking the 17 year old record of Old Dominion University's NCAA record. It was a matter of honor and immense pride for Drexel Dragons as it might be easier to say but hard to break the circle of success crafted by the professional team. The dragons grabbed their CAA Championship against James Madison University with a fantastic victory of 64-58.It was not an ordinary victory as the team won their first CAA tournament title since they joined the conference in 2001-02.
The series of victories and record breaking success is not an easy task as it requires professionalism in athletes, rigorous training and the sportsman spirit to face the competition with a broadminded approach. Drexel Dragons have made their name in all the sports like lacrosse, basketball, squash, swimming, rugby, hockey, tennis and wrestling with the list going on. Not just the men's teams give a tough competition rather the women's teams have the professional touch as well and are hard to beat in the arena for sure.
Jack Child has been coaching the wrestling team for 33 seasons and has recently marked his 500th career coaching victory that reflects the professionalism in the coach which is sure to seep into the athletes too. Child has been the fifth coach in the collegiate history to have reached this feat. Keep an eye on cheap Drexel Dragons tickets as the team fans are mad to get them whatsoever.
