Dayton Dutch Lions on the other hand were formed in 2009 and played their inaugural season in PDL. Lions had their first competitive faceoff on May 8, 2010 against Cincinnati Kings. After the formation of USL Pro, Dayton Dutch Lions joined the league as one of its founding franchises. In 2012, Dayton Dutch Lions defeated Columbus Crew and Michigan Bucks to make it to the Quarter Finals of the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup. During its time in USL Pro, Dayton Dutch Lions have made only one playoff appearance, in 2013, when the team lost to Richmond Kickers in the quarter finals.
