The Crew is a fabulous American soccer team, known fully as the Columbus Crew. As per its name, the franchise is based in Columbus, Ohio and plays at the Columbus Crew Stadium which seats around twenty thousand people. They are known by several nicknames amongst fans most common of which are the Massive, America's Hardest Working Team and The Crew. They have been active since their founding in 1994 and have sold thousands of Crew tickets since then. They are owned by Clark Hunt and are coached by head coach Robert Warzycha.

The Crew is a Major League Soccer team and is a member of the Eastern Conference, in which it ranked fourth in 2011. Overall, within the entire MLS, it ranks ninth and made it to the playoffs in 2011. Its official colors are black, white and yellow with alternating uniforms for home and away play. It is one of the best teams in the MLS and is one of the charter clubs that founded the MLS, having competed in the league since its founding. It was originally owned by Lamar Hunt, a sports tycoon who also owned the FC Dallas, the Sporting Kansas City and the Kansas City Chiefs. Upon his death in 2006, the team passed to Clark Hunt who is the team's current owner.

The Crew, known fully as the Columbus Crew, is the first MLS team to build a soccer specific stadium that has a seating capacity of over twenty thousand. Before then, the team played their games on the Ohio State University's campus at the Ohio Stadium. Their official mascot is the Crew Cat. Since their founding, they have won five major championship trophies. These include the 2008 MLS Cup as well as the Supporters' Shields three times in 2004, 2008 and 2009. They have also won the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, held in 2002.

This Ohio team won its first trophy in 2002 by defeating the Los Angeles Galaxy and emerging as the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup champion. The winning goal in this game was scored by Freddy Garcia and in 2004, they won the MLS Supporters' Shield after defeating the Kansas City Wizards. Four years later, they won their second MLS Supporters' Shield when they defeating the Houston soccer team by a staggering six points. The same year, they won the MLS Cup after defeating the famous New York Red Bulls.
