Chicago Shamrox
Chicago Shamrox started their play last year, in 2007; however their announcement for the new Franchise was made official on February 16, 2006, when it was awarded to the City of Chicago by NLL. The team was named Shamrox in May of 2006.
Chicago Shamrox play their home games at the Sears Center located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The team is co-owned by Kevin Loughery Jr. and Don Sallee of Concept Entertainment Group, LLC and play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
Shamrox played their inaugural season in 2007 and tied on the 4th place in the Eastern Division of NLL, after finishing their regular season with a 6-10 score.
Later on Shamrox faced Toronto Rock for a tie breaker for a spot in the playoffs and result didn't come out in favor of Shamrox as they lost to Rock.
After the announcement of the new franchise was made, the new president and Vice President of the franchise were also announced on May 11, 2006.
And according to that announcement Connie Kowal took over as the President while Phil Ryan became the Vice President of the Franchise. Apart from that, Jamie Batley took charge of the team as its first head coach as well as the team's first General Manager.
After the franchise was announced, 2006 NLL Expansion Draft was held and on June 12, 2006 first overall pick was made, which resulted in the very first addition of Goaltender Brandon Miller to the team's roster.
In their 12th overall pick during the 2006 NLL Entry Draft, Josh Wasson was picked on September 13, 2006. Before playing for Shamrox, Wasson formerly played for University of Hartford as well as for the Peterborough Lakers, who were the members of Ontario Lacrosse Association.
Shamrox took the ground for the first time in a home game against New York Titans on January 6, 2007. Their very first overall game, also bring Shamrox, their very first victory as they defeated Titans with a 15-12 score.
The first goal of the team was scored in the 1st quarter by Jason Clark. During their first match Shamrox Goaltender, Brandon Miller made 46 saves from the 58 goal attempts. In their inaugural season the attendance at the Sears Centre also rose to 8,456 people.
Shamrox started their season pretty well, and kicked off their inaugural season with two consecutive wins. But their victory didn't last long as out of the ten games that they played later in the season, Shamrox lost 9 of them. Included in these nine losses, are also the 7 consecutive losses.
Shamrox played their last game of their regular season on April 14, 2007, where they faced off against Philadelphia Wings in a home game, and claimed their victory over Wings with a 17-11 score. Shamrox finished their regular season with 6-10 score and lost to Toronto Rock in a tiebreaker match.
2008 season was Shamrox second season and this season was no different then their previous one, as the team yet again finished their regular season with 6-10 score, same as before.
