The NCAA Division I in American college sports is home to some of the most competitive teams in the nation, and is ranked as the top flight college sports league in the country. This time around, teams from the Campbell University will face teams from the North Carolina State University in a tug of war for the best sportsmen and women, with the winners receiving praise and acclaim. The Campbell University at Bujes Creek in North Carolina is a member of the Big South Conference though some sports are played in other conferences. An NCAA Division I program, the college fields eighteen varsity teams and the program's athletics director is Bob Roller. The Camels play football at the Barker-Lane Stadium, baseball at the Him Perry Stadium and basketball at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. The university's official colors are black and orange. Nicknamed the Fighting Camels and Lady Camels, teams such as the men's basketball team have played in the National NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament and have won the Big South Conference championship.
The Lady Camels women's basketball team has also won several Conference championships, and has played in the national NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship. They are coached by Wanda Watkins who has coached the team for thirty two years, making her one of the longest active head coaches in college sports in the US.
The Campbell Camels are slated to take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack in their next game. The Wolfpack hail from the North Carolina State University and are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the NCAA Division I. The Wolfpack are also members of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League and the Great America Rifle Conference.
Debbie Yow is the athletics director of the Wolfpack, who play various sports at the Carter-Finley Stadium, PNC Arena and Doak Field at Raleigh, North Carolina. The program fields twenty five varsity teams and is a founder of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The program has won eight National Championships and has its fiercest rivalry with the North Carolina Tar Heels. In baseball, the team has won five Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and played twice in the College World Series including most recently in 2013. The men's basketball team has won two National Championships as well as a record seventeen Conference Championships. The women's basketball team has also won nine Conference Championships whereas the football team has won eight Conference Championships and a record fourteen Bowl games.
