Camden, New Jersey based professional baseball team, Camden Riversharks play for the Liberty Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Major League Baseball and Professional Baseball have no affiliation in between each other. Riversharks ballpark is Campbell's Field, where they have been playing their home games since 1998. The teams' name Rivershark is a reference to a location of Camden on the Delaware River. Team's logo also depicts the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Team's ballpark is also situated at the base of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
Riversharks started playing in 2001, as an expansion team and since then they have been a cheap alternative to the Philadelphia Phillies for the local baseball lovers. Riversharks are known to attract an average crowd of around 4,000 fans on each game, however the viewer's count increase to up to 7,000 during fireworks nights.
As far as the history of baseball in Camden goes, Camden Riversharks weren't the first baseball team ever to be based in Camden, before them Camden was home to Camden Merritt. Camden Merritt was named after an Ex-State senator Albert Merritt and was formed in 1883, also in the same year the team was disassembled. Later in 1904, another team played from Camden in the Tri-State League, but just like the Camden Merritt's, they too were disbanded in the year it was founded. After 1904, Camden never became home to any of its professional baseball team, however it was in 2001 when the Camden Riversharks were founded, and it became the first Professional baseball team in Camden since 1904.
The Riversharks logo consisted of ring, which was navy blue in color, along with a shark centered above the wood mark placed over it. The Riversharks used this logo from 2001 till 2005, as in 2005 Riversharks ownership changed so did there logo. Riversharks new logo consists of a shark biting of a baseball bat placed over stylized drawing of Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Currently Riversharks team colors are navy blue, Columbia Blue and Grey.
The on field caps that the team wears are navy blue in color and have the C-Bite logo on them. The teams' caps are made by The Game Headwear and Uniforms by Rawlings. The jerseys that the team wears during a game on their home field are white in color along with navy blue sleeves and shoulders. The fronts of the jerseys contain Sharks word mark depicted in white with navy blue outlined in Columbia Blue. Camden Riversharks away jerseys are grey in color having a Camden written across the chest in navy blue color while having a Columbia Blue outline. All of these team's apparels come with navy blue socks, belts and undershirts.
