The Bull Riders of America is an American bull riding organization based in Missouri. It was founded back in 1996 by several professional bull riders. Since then, it has established itself as one of the premier bull riding organizations in the US, organizing several events each year and having its own Hall of Champions. Bull riding as a sport has gained fame over the past few years and is an ancient sport, hailing back from the times of Mexican equestrian traditions. Today, it is one of the fastest growing sports in the US and thus a must see live via Bull Riders of America tickets.
The Bull Riders of America was formed so as to create a quality environment for bull riders. Dubbed as an organization by bull riders for bull riders, it sanctions a number of events in the American Midwest and is currently expanding to other regions of the US and other parts of the world. A number of events currently take place in several states of the US including Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, North Dakota, Kansas, South Dakota, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Michigan.
The Bull Riders of America are led by a number of directors, led by president Brian Collett. Shad Smith is the vice president whereas Hallie Dessel is the secretary and treasurer. The contract director is Cory Check and the personnel director is Lucas Littles. The bull riding directors are Joel Armstrong, Dusty Green, Brad Check and Brett Olmstead. This board of directors is elected by members of the association and each director serves the organization for two years.
The Bull Riders of America has its very own Hall of Champions. Each year, a number of bull riders receive special awards. In 2009, the announcer of the event was Troy Goodridge with the judging panel made up of Todd Crase, Steve Snow, Allan Dessel, Craig Check, Jeremy Muntz, Andy Thompson and Kevin Diesel. The 1st Go Round Awards winner was Travis VanLaar, who also won the 2nd Go Round Awards. The 3rd Go Round Awards were won by Curt Check whereas the 4th Go Round Awards were won by Willy Ropp. The Finals Host plaque was awarded to the Fort Madison Committee under Mike Culberson whereas the Event of the Year plaque was awarded to the Double S Bull Company in Atlantic, Iowa.
The New Event of the Year plaque was awarded to Dubuque, Iowa's CC Bucking Bulls whereas the Indoor Event of the Year plaque was awarded to the Double S Bull Company in Burlington, Iowa. In 2012, the following bull riders were ranked top five, according to contestant earnings. These were Levi Stepp, Will Crain, John Young, Ty Redman and Travis Smith.
