The Bridgestone Invitational is a professional golf event arranged by the "World Golf Championships". It is organized and produced by "International Federation of PGA Tours". The tournament takes place in Akron, Ohio at the "Firestone Country Club". Three separate tours are known to take place here; the "Japan Golf Tour", the "PGA" and the "European Tour". Superstar golfer Tiger Woods has been known to have the best aggregate score in this torment at an impressive 259. The 2013 has begun once more with golf enthusiasts looking for cheap Bridgestone Invitational tickets for the many scheduled games.
Originally, the World Championships or the WGC in golf consist of four tournaments. These are all prize money events, three of which have been sponsored by the PGA. The prize money for the Bridgestone can go up to $8,500,000. Sponsors around the world have created a mutual fund to benefit the sport. This is known as the "International Federation of PGA Tours". They are not only responsible for arranging the tour money, but also for arranging the different games and settling the format of the different tours. Their methods have been authorized by the "Sunshine Tour", the "Asian Tour", the "PGA Tour of Australia" and the "PGA Tour". All four of these events are prize money games which are part of the "Japan Golf Tour" and the "European Tour". The only exception to the money format is the "HSBC Championship" which is more of an exhibition tour, even though it is still a match off. The winner of this particular torment is invited to play for the "Hyundai Tournament of Champions". This in itself is an event that holds great honor and prestige for any golfer who qualifies because it ranks them as being the top players of the sport. The rankings in turn aid them into attaining sponsors and endorsement deals, or attaining an overall celebrity status. The person who wins the tournament of the champions is then credited with later with a PGA tour title.
Out of the four World Gold Championship events, three are major tournaments with the most prize money. Recently, the HSBC games have also been promoted to being part of the WGC. Still, it is only their top prize which is up to par to the majors. Although there are many golf events that take place throughout the year, there are the ones with the top ranking and form the benchmark with which other games are places. The WGCs are sometimes places on top of the competitions but directly below the majors. At times, the "Fifth Major" also known as the "Players Championship" is given just as much priority as the top 4.
The Bridgestone Invitation is the only event that came right after the primary World Series in 1976. Others include the Cadillac Championship, the Accenture Match Play Championship and the HSBC. Out of these, the Cadillac was the tournament that would travel around the world, playing in different venues at a time. In 2008, the HSBC became the fourth event of its kind to attain worldwide status, becoming an important event for any golfer to get past.
These championships have also been used for charity work over the years. Most recently, it was the Sunshine Tour that announces an addition of a fifth WGC that was to begin in 2012. They would name this the "Tournament of Hope" and their major goal would be to create awareness on poverty and disease in Africa. This tournament will be played for the first time this year, with all proceeds going to facilitate hospitals and schools in all major slums of Africa.
Originally, the WGC was created so that a high profile global platform would be created which would invite top golfers from around the world and from different tours to compete against each other on a more regular term. Before that, they would only meet for the major championships, otherwise only playing against their locals. This format has given the sport prestige, attracting elite players and converting golf into a legitimate professional sport. To top it all is the prize money which is almost the same as any other major tournament. This also gives the golfers the incentive to play for leagues other than their own tours. Each game in the WGC carries points; the more points a golfer collects, the higher his ranking in the world would be.
With Matt Kuchar and Tiger Woods winning the first two tournaments of the season, cheap Bridgestone Invitational tickets are selling to find out who the next winner would be.
