Boise State University was founded in 1932 and is one of the premiere public research institution in the state of Idaho. In late 1969 the Broncos were accepted into the National Collegiate Athletic Association. They have played in the Big Sky Conference, the Big West Conference, the Western Athletic Conference and the current Mountain West Conference. They have amassed seventeen titles from all the conferences they have played in, with eight titles coming from the WAC alone.
Boise State Broncos recently made a new change to their coaching staff, with Bryan Harsin being hired as the new head coach. Harsin who previously spent ten years, from 2001 to 2010, as an assistant coach with the Broncos, will have little trouble settling in with the team. Harsin helped the Broncos to two undefeated seasons and was named as a finalist for the 2009 Broyles Award. They have an all-time win record of just over point seven. Now, with Harsin controlling the reigns, the Broncos look to be an even more formidable team.
The University of Mississippi was the first university of its kind to be constructed in the State of Mississippi, in 1848. As one of the largest and oldest higher learning institution, the University has managed to keep its sports programs going along in tandem with its educational programs. In football the Rebels have won six South Eastern Conference Titles and a sole division title. The Rebels are popularly called the Ole Miss Rebels, as the state of Mississippi is known as the Ole Miss State. Their current head coach is Hugh Freeze, who is spending his second year with the Rebels, looking to improve on the point five six win average.
The mascot of the Boise State Broncos is Buster Bronco, a brown anthropomorphized bronco with a large smiling face. He wears a jersey with the number 0 to football games. The Broncos official colors are blue and orange. Their logo shows an angry bronco colored in the official colors.
On the other hand the Ole Miss Rebels have the Rebel Black Bear as their mascot. The Rebel bear is a relatively new mascot, introduced in 2010. Previously, the white-goateed Colonel Reb was the mascot of the Rebels. A person wearing the costume of a black bear comes out to support the Rebels when they play against other teams.
