The qualification round is over and the FIFA confederations charged with overseeing the teams have announced the contenders for this year's FIFA World Cup.

It is that time again; the time that comes once in four years. And the excitement, apprehension and hype that engulf this event is no less than any previous tournament. The world is left to speculate over what fate will befall each of the 32 world-class teams. These teams will be competing this year in - no other than five-time world champion - Brazil. With one spot reserved for Brazil as the host nation, around 207 teams competed in the qualification round. The kick-off of FIFA World Cup 2014 is on June 12, with a match between Brazil and Croatia from Group A.

One of the qualifying teams is Belgium. Belgium was placed with Algeria, Russia and South Korea in Group H. Their first match is lined up to be against Algeria, being the fifteenth match of the tournament, on June 17. Belgium comes into play again at the thirty-first match of the tournament, their second. This time they will be playing Russia, on June 22. The forty-seventh match of the tournament will consist of Belgium playing against Korea Republic, on June 26. Consequently, they will be wrapping up the group matches, with the whole world looking forward to who advances to the next round from each group.

Belgium has taken part in eleven FIFA world cups, and was a founding member of FIFA. They won the FIFA Fair Play award in 2002, and finished fourth in 1994 and 1986. Michel Preudhomme, the Belgian goalkeeper of the time, also won the Yashin Award for the Best Goalkeeper in 1994. Their player, Enzo Scifo, won the Best Young Player Award in 1986. They proved their worth in this year's qualification round by finishing top of Group A, ahead of Serbia, Croatia and Scotland. Their place in this year's tournament was confirmed in their second-to-last match, in which they sealed the deal with a 2-1 victory in Zagreb. They have an amazing lieu of team members to their credit, including the crowd favorite Eden Hazard and Nacer Chadli. Most recently, players who have shone on the field include Thibaut Courtois, Kevin de Bruyne, Toby Alderweireld and Romelu Lukaku. Senior figures include the experienced Axel Witsel, Vincent Kompany, Steven Defour and Thomas Vermaelen. Thibaut serves as a top goalkeeper and spectacular centre-backs in Kompany and Jan Vertonghen. Witsel and Marouane Fellaini serve as dynamic midfielders. Many believe qualifying for the tournament was child's play for this team and are looking forward to seeing them in real action.

FIFA 2014 is no small event, and as usual, the festivities promise to be fun-filled as always. FIFA confirmed that twelve Brazilian cities will serve as venues for the matches, including stunning locations like Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Salvador. Belgium's matches will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo. These are advantageous locations for Group H, since the weather remains mild, with low humidity providing a good backdrop for the matches.
