The demand for Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks tickets is increasing by the day as the two talented college baseball clubs prepare to play against each other, at the Baum Stadium, in April 2014. Due to the anticipation surrounding the event, the players from both the Arkansas University and the Stephen F. Austin State University are under vigorous training to ensure that they are in the best form.
The baseball team of the University of Arkansas is known by the name Diamond Dogs. It is a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The club was formed in 1923 and completed its 91st season in the year 2013. In a sport where many SEC members have dropped their baseball programs owing to financial loss, the Diamond Dogs stand amongst the four members (along Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State) to have earned a profit. The Arkansas Razorbacks have reached twenty five NCAA tournaments and made seven appearances in the College World Series.
The trend of playing baseball in Arkansas began in 1897 when the first team in the sport was formed. This club played until the year 1930. It was during the middle of the 20th century that professional baseball in Arkansas began under Deke Brackett. He led the team in many games until 1965 when the Razorbacks were taken over by Wayne Robbins.
Initially the Arkansas Razorbacks played at the dilapidated stadium of the Washington Country Fairgrounds. When the team made it into the NCAA tournament for the first time, making a record in school history, a special on campus stadium was built, called the George Cole Field.
The Arkansas Razorbacks won the DEC Western Division in 2004. During the 2009 World Series, they started their series of performances with consecutive wins over Arizona State. These victories set new records of attendance at the Baum Stadium (home ground for the Razorbacks). They reached the SEC Baseball tournament where they defeated Florida twice but then were eliminated from the competition after losing to Vanderbilt.
The Arkansas Razorbacks entered into the 2012 College World Series winning their first game of the season against Kent State Golden Flashes. With such top players on the roster as Ryne Stanek, Nolan Sanburn, DJ Baxendale and Dominic Ficociello, they gave many of their rivals a tough competition.
Under the current coach Dave van Horn, the Arkansas Razorbacks are set to take on another skilled baseball side, the Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks. This team from the Texas based university is a member of the Southland Conference and its home ground is the Jaycees Field, Nacogdoches. The Lumberjacks' are preparing under coach Johnny Cardenas for their much awaited encounter with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
