Lisa Lisa was one of the first freestyle musicians to emerge from New York City. She along with her band, the Cult Jam, has been making music since 1984. This musically diverse and successful recording act has produced several successful hits including, I Wonder if I Take You Home, Lost in Emotion and All Cried Out. Lisa Lisa and the Cult is one of the pioneers of hip-hop and R&B music. With two platinum albums, five gold singles and two number one singles on both R&B and pop charts in its repertoire, the band is all set to thrill  audiences in their upcoming performance at the Halloween Ball.

TKA is another popular freestyle band ruling the genre since the eighties. Emerging from New York City, TKA was discovered by the record producer Joey Gardner at a sweet sixteen party in 1984. The trio released a number of hit songs including One Way Love, Come Get My Love and Don't Be Afraid. Their song You Are the One also made it to the Billboard Hot 100. The trio disbanded and reunited in 2001 to release another album, "Forever". Her list of accolades is also impressive with several notable award wins,  including six New York Music Awards and an ASCAP Award for her songwriting skills.
